Understanding Springtime

In the movie the Martian, Matt Damon plays an astronaut who’s lost in a storm on Mars and presumed dead. Once he recovers, he realizes all his other crew members have gone. He returns back to the ship knowing he only has limited food resources, so he became a botanist, improvises a farm by using Mars’ soil along with vacuum pack toilet waste and water from extracting leftover rocket fuel that burns with fire. He ultimately creates a field of potatoes that will last him indefinitely.

What have you sown for God to multiply for you indefinitely? If nothing is flourishing in your life, right now, it may have to do with your perspective of Springtime. For in this season, it is the early part or the first stage of something based upon what was planted before. Hence if one didn’t plant something a season before, one can’t expect the harvest of crop of things to grow during this season, or best case scenario, plant it now and hope for a later harvest! For the believer, we must stop complaining of what we don’t have and start thanking God for what’s already on our table. Stop complaining about what hasn’t happened and praise Him for what has already manifested itself. Stop complaining about current situations and thank Him for what you’re currently learning and understanding.

The Martian realized he couldn’t prosper, nor survive without working the resources that he had, with the hopes that with his efforts and God’s established season of rain/sun combined would ultimately create increase! Saints, realize this is the season God has given you to increase. A season of expectancy if you’ve already sown your seed; or a season to plant with expectation of a later return. Whichever is the case for you, don’t grow weary because like the Martian a storm came or your friends have abandoned you in an unfamiliar place. But trust God, his track record and other’s testimonies about this season.

Remember Isaac who sowed in the land and reaped in the same year a hundred fold (Genesis 26:12). Wisdom tells us one gives freely, yet grows all the riches; another withholds what he should give and only suffers more. Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered (Proverbs 11:24-25). Realize its Springtime!
